Local Current Journal

Editorial policy

Local Current Journal aims to make writing about local geography clear, careful, and useful. Our editorial choices favour accuracy and context over sweeping claims about how every city or neighbourhood works.

Accuracy and context

We check factual claims against appropriate available material before publication and distinguish established information from interpretation. General articles may describe common patterns, but they should not imply that every place follows them. When a claim depends on a particular location or current conditions, the wording should make that scope clear.

Independence

Editorial decisions, including topic selection and conclusions, remain separate from commercial arrangements. A partner cannot buy a favourable editorial judgment or require us to present a claim as fact.

Corrections

If a reader identifies a factual error or a passage that needs clarification, please use the Contact page and describe the issue as precisely as possible. We review correction requests and make appropriate changes, with a clear note when a correction materially changes the meaning of a published piece.

Partners and illustrations

Paid or partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, the illustration is labelled so readers can distinguish it from documentary imagery.

Our point of view

A city is more than its map.

We pay attention to the details that make places legible: a street's shape, a square's layout, or a name that has outlasted its original meaning.
