Write for us
Local Current Journal welcomes considered pitches about streets, public spaces, landmarks, neighbourhoods, and place names. We are interested in pieces that help a general reader see a familiar place or pattern in a new and well-supported way.
What to propose
Strong proposals have a clear subject, a specific central question, and a reason the subject matters to readers beyond one narrow location. We welcome explanatory pieces, comparisons, histories, and close readings of urban features. Avoid pitches that depend on unsupported claims, sweeping local generalisations, or professional advice.
What makes a good pitch
Keep the proposal focused: outline the main point, the examples or sources you expect to use, and how the piece will differ from a general overview. Tell us whether the idea is a finished draft or a proposal. Please disclose relevant commercial interests and do not submit material that you do not have permission to share.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is not an acceptance, and we may ask for clarification before considering it. Please do not send confidential, private, or sensitive information.
A city is more than its map.
We pay attention to the details that make places legible: a street's shape, a square's layout, or a name that has outlasted its original meaning.
